I write to understand
to dig deeper and uncover hidden truths
about myself and human nature
I write to be known
to share a common experience and connect
I write to refine and hone a craft that so often
seems beyond me
I write...
I couldn't agree with you more. I write for the same reasons. I also write to appreciate and recognize the small moments.
ReplyDeleteYes and to remember! I knew there was more. This list could go on and on really!
Delete"I write to refine and hone a craft that so often seems beyond me." I feel the same.
ReplyDeleteI love how you wrote that "I write to understand, to dig deeper and uncover hidden truths
ReplyDeleteabout myself and human nature" . I know for me one of the reasons I love to write is because it helps me reflect and process this journey of ours!
All great reasons to write, but the power of this poem was the final line, I write . . .
ReplyDeleteI am glad you do!
I love the honesty of sharing with us why you write. I write... your last thought... makes me wonder about reasons for writing

I write to share a common experience is my favorite line. This journey is teaching me, as you, to hone our craft. Love this slice!
ReplyDeleteThe one I connected with was "I write to share a common experience and connect." I think that speaks loudly for Slice of Life -- we are sharing bits and pieces of our crazy lives knowing that we will connect! Thanks for sharing your 'whys' with us!
ReplyDelete"I write to dig deeper to uncover hidden truths." <--- Great line. I know when I start a piece I'm never sure where it will take me. Sometimes I want to try to write it in different ways just to see which way strengthens its message. Keep writing...

Your poetry inspires me and makes me jealous! Ha! I think, sometimes, I simply write because I am afraid people will get sick of listening to me talk if I don't write some of my nonsense down! :)
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up! I had one student write about how when you write it down you can keep it forever! Think of that you are immortalized!
DeleteI agree with Jen B - your poetry is very inspirational. I love all the lines, but I really love that last line -- I write...
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get better about this.
